Melody Starkweather is an Ottawa-Valley artist, working in graphite pencil, ink and brush on paper and acrylic paint on canvas. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Studies and Art History from the University of Toronto, but she's a lifelong artist. Capturing lifelike images of people and pets is what she's known for as a portrait artist, however visually capturing memories and feelings is equally important to her. As such, her 'portraits' extend beyond the face, to familiar and nostalgic places and items that typify our lives - the family cottage, that everyday backroad drive to town, or a beloved object. Melody's recent work has primarily been commission-based portraits, but she is thrilled to be creating some new work for the Art Works! tour in 2020.
